Lawrence Academy 4, Milton Academy 1

Lawrence Academy took advantage of their speed and quickness as they

forechecked their way to a 4-1 victory over Milton Academy this afternoon at

Milton. Lawrence outshot their opponents, 26-12.

The first few shifts were fast paced. Two minutes into the game, Lawrence Academy forward Cameron Finch collided with a Milton player at

center ice and went down in a hurry. Simultaneously, Tony Voce took a hit

from Rob Flynn and skated off holding his ailing left shoulder. Voce would

return for his next shift. However, that was 20 minutes later -- because the injury to Finch was more serious, both teams were sent to their locker rooms as they awaited the arrival of the EMTs to look at Finch. Although Finch was taken off the ice on a stretcher, he was moving his legs and hands, which showed hopeful signs. We expect he was taken to a local hospital for observation. We'll give you an update if and when we get one. .

Midway through the first period, with his team on the power play, Lawrence defenseman Greg Lauze gave his team a 1-0 lead when his shot from the point slipped past the glove of Milton goalie Peter Cohen. .

Eight seconds into the second period, Lawrence's Ryan Stevens stole the puck from Cohen and tucked it into the open net for a 2-0 Lawrence lead.

 

Lawrence went up 3-0 when Mark Pandolfo scored on a nice pass in front from Richard Labelle and Andrew Narog midway through the period.

Milton would score their lone goal of the game 57 seconds into the third on

a nice rebound goal by Mark Angeloni. But Lawrence kept skating and forechecking, and, at 8:13, went up 4-1 when Voce closed out the scoring on a nifty breakaway.
