Owen Division consists of Andover, Deerfield, Milton, and Salisbury. Harding Division consists of Hotchkiss, Kimball Union, Nobles, and Westminster. Friday Morning Games: Nobles 3, Kimball Union 1 Sophomore Ben McManama scored twice in the first half as Nobles defeated Kimball Union 3-1 in first round action from the Flood-Marr Tournament. Jake Clapton also scored for the victors. Kimball Union scored first as P.J. Davey blistered a slap shot past Steve Belew early in the first half. Matt Dunn played in goal for Kimball Union. Hotchkiss 3, Westmister 1 Hotchkiss got first half goals from Martin Brisebois and Brett Nowak en route to a 3-1 defeat of Housatonic League foe Westminster. Rob Miller played well in net for Westminster. Jeff Natale scored for Westminster. Will Eide scored the third goal for the Bearcats. Hotchkiss 5, Nobles 4 Hotchkiss goals: Martin Brisbois (2), Jonathan Hill, Adam Foote, and Brett Nowak. Brent Robinson contributed two assists. Nobles goals: Wally Siggins (2), Kevin Lyons, and Jake Clapton. Mike Murray had three assists in a losing cause. Westminster 4, Kimball Union 3 Westminster goals: Ken Allgyer, Matt Silverio, R.C. Schmidt, and Nick Berno. Kevin Bryant had three assists. Kimball Union goals: P.J. Davey (2), and Joseph Ciocco. One Year Ago -- Sun. December 21, 1997: Dirkes Wins it for Deerfield in Double OT MILTON, MASS.-- Senior defenseman Chris Dirkes scored at 5:15 of the second overtime to give Deerfield Academy a 3-2 win over Westminster in the Flood-Marr Tournament title game this afternoon. Dirkes corralled a loose puck in the Westminster zone, and broke in alone on goaltender Rob Miller. He deked right, freezing Miller, and then tucked a backhander into the open net. The goal sent a frozen crowd at Milton's new rink into a frenzy, culminating a weekend of dramatic finishes. |
