@ St. Sebastian's 6, Governor's 2 -- Senior Matt Cataldo (1g,3a) and junior Ben Merrill (2g,1) led the Arrows' attack. Junior Kyle Smyrnios scored both goals for Gov's. Seb's moves to 10-5-0; Gov's falls to 5-10-1.
St. George's 4 @ St. Mark's 2 -- In what was St. George's biggest win of the season, the Dragons shook off a 2-0 road deficit by scoring one in the second and adding three in the third -- the last goal being an empty-netter. After senior Andrew Gibbons's two first-period goals allowed the host Lions to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission, Dragons' junior F Danny Buckley's second-period goal cut the St. Mark's lead to 2-1. Midway through the third, senior Ryan Staples, with an assist going to junior D Everett Baldwin, a PC recruit, tied it at 2-2. Baldwin scored what would be the game-winner a little over two minutes later. Staples, a Yale recruit, added an ENG with a little over a minute left. Dragons' senior Ryder Shea (38/40) earned the win; Lions' sophomore Alex Tarves (38/41) took a tough loss. St. Georges improves to 12-2-1; St. Mark's falls to 9-5-0.
@ Groton 5, Middlesex 4 (OT) -- Host Groton, trailing 4-2 with under five minutes remaining in regulation, got a 4x4 goal from senior F Devin Fitzgerald with 4:21 left before junior F Zach Baker scored a 6x4 goal with 34 seconds on the clock to send it to OT. There, freshman Harrison Freelove -- with his second goal of the day -- scored on the powerplay at 2:37 to give the Zebras the win. Junior F Matt Egan (2g,1a) and senior Bryan Tang (3a) each had three points for Middlesex (6-8-0). In net senior Ethan Ramonetti (30/34) picked up the win; Middlesex junior Caio Bernardini (37/42) took the loss. Groton (7-4-4) is 5-1-1 over its last seven, with the only loss coming to St. George's.
Avon Old Farms 2 @ Berkshire 0 -- Junior F Michael Munroe, assisted by PG Alex Pelletier and senior Charles Blanchard, scored 23 seconds into the third period and added an empty-netter in the final minute to keep the #1 Winged Beavers (13-0-1) flying. In net, sophomore Anthony Palmer (22/22) picked up the shutout, his second of the season. Berkshire senior Tommy Adams (30/31) took the hard-luck loss. Berkshire (12-6-0) saw its six-game win streak come to a halt.
Tilton @ Proctor -- Due to ill players on Tilton, its scheduled game at Proctor was postponed to Monday, January 29th at 4:00 pm.
@ Brunswick 6, Hoosac 0 -- West Point commit Sean Gibbons (2g,1a) and fellow senior Brendan Giles (3a) paced the #3 Bruins' attack. Regular backup G Dylan Lee-Stack, a sophomore, saved all 10 shots he faced.
@ Dexter 5, Brooks 1 -- Dexter junior Tyler Hamilton scored twice, while senior Cullen Emery added a goal and two helpers. Sophomore G Colin Davis (21/22) picked up the win in net. Brooks senior G Ethan Simpson (28/33) took the loss. Dexter advances to 11-4-2 with the win; Brooks drops to 6-8-0.
Canterbury 8 @ Taft 4 -- After the Saints and Rhinos traded goals and found themselves deadlocked, 3-3, after the first period, Canterbury scored five straight over the second and third periods to put the game out of reach. Saints PG Jackson Powers notched a hat trick and tacked on a helper. Junior G Maxim Pitts (30/33) earned the win in net. Canterbury, 6-1-1 over its last eight, is now 11-5-2; Taft drops to 5-8-1.
Hotchkiss 6, Exeter 1 -- In a neutral site game played at Eaglebrook, Hotchkiss (3-8-2) got two goals apiece from junior Jack McGregor and senior Jake Owens en route to snapping a four-game losing skid. Bearcats' junior G Connor Towle (31/32) earned the win. Big Red PG netminder Brady Quackenbush — who went 26/32 — surrendered more than three goals for just the fourth time in 17 starts. Exeter is 7-7-3.
NYA 4 @ Worcester Academy 2 -- With the game tied at one more than midway through the third, NYA teammates Cole Lambert and Cayne Leive struck 24 seconds apart, staking the Panthers to a lead they wouldn't surrender. The Hilltoppers held a sizable advantage in shots, but NYA senior Aidan McAuslin (40/42) played his best game of the season. Senior Braden Clifford (27/30) took the loss for WA.
Williston Northampton 7 @ Wilbraham & Monson 0 -- Behind goals from seven different skaters and a 10-save shutout from senior G Jake Henry, Williston (5-9-2) blanked W&M on the road. Junior d-man Gabriel Qureshi (1g,2a) and PG forward Hunter Harkins (1g,2a) paced the Wildcats attack.
@ St. Paul's 4, Vermont Academy 2 -- Big Red senior Conley Bohan scored 10 minutes into the third, and it held up as the game-winner. VA junior Jack Marilley stuck less than a minute later to cut the lead to one, but the St. Paul's defense held strong the rest of the way and sophomore Gavin Code tacked on an ENG in the final minute.
@ Belmont Hill 4, Tabor 1 -- Two-point days from sophomore Louis Marobella (1g,1a) and freshman Andrew Giguere (2a) led #8 Belmont Hill (10-4-2) to a home win. Junior G Keagin Wilson (25/26) picked up the win. His Tabor counterpart Owen Byers (27/31) took the loss. Tabor (6-10-0) had dropped five of its last six dating back to Jan. 2.
Salisbury 5 @ Kent 1 -- After a nail-biting OT win against Trinity-Pawling on Friday, the #9 Knights (11-4-0) got right back after it, breaking a scoreless deadlock with a three-goal second period to top #6 Kent (10-5-1) on the road. Junior Ryan Hedley (1g,3a) figured in all but one of his team's goals. Senior goalie Cooper Flemming stopped 17 of the 18 Kent shots. Senior G Aidan Hopewell (22/26) took the loss for the Lions. Salisbury and Kent's season series stands at 1-1 as Salisbury's win today avenges a 4-2 loss on December 9th. If the teams meet a third time it will have to be in the playoffs.
Choate 2 @ Deerfield 1 -- Sophomore Easton Kinsler scored twice — including the game-winner at 14:36 of the second — to lift Choate (3-11-0) to a rivalry win over Deerfield (7-6-0). Junior G Gordie Leary turned aside 27 of the Big Green's 28 shots for the win. Deerfield senior G John Tolve (23/25) took the hard-luck loss. Choate, which was 0-8 before the Christmas break, is 3-3 since the calendar turned to 2024.
Stanstead College 3 @ KUA 1 -- Junior goalie Max Kogler, a native of Vienna, Austria, kicked out 34 of 35 shots to lead Stanstead College to an upset win at #2 KUA tonight. Stanstead (11-11-0 in NEPSIHA play) got single goals in each period, with each coming from a different scorer. #2 Kimball Union (17-2-0) had previously defeated Kogler and Stanstead, 4-3, at Stanstead's Tournament the weekend before Thanksgiving. (American Thanksgiving, that is.)

Calling All Coaches
We're introducing a new feature today. It's simply called 'Player Commitments.
Tracking commitments is helpful for NEPSIHA schools looking to promote their programs, as well as for college recruiters, junior teams, and all followers of the game. In the past, before the social media explosion, we covered player commitments extensively, but nowadays for the top players this is all over the internet. Meanwhile, Div. III players are shortchanged. Our commitment lists will shine a light on all student-athletes taking it to the next level, at both the Div. 1 and Div. III levels, as well as for hockey players recruited to play a sport other than hockey.
For coaches, the submission process is simple and straightforward. You'll see a new tab in your team's admin menu titled, "Commitments". From there you can add, edit, or delete commitments. If you don't have information for a given field -- e.g., a player who has committed to a junior team while undecided on college -- leave it blank or write it in.
That's it, short and sweet.
For technical questions, email support@ushr.com, and, for everything else, email cwarner@ushr.com.

Avon 5 @ NMH 0 -- The Winged Beavers (12-0-1) got goals from five different players and a 25-save shutout from junior G Michael Heinke (who also picked up an assist). Avon's first scorer of the day, sophomore Tucker Harris, scored his first career goal. #1-ranked Avon has not allowed more than three goals in a game all season -- and that's only happened three times, two of which came in OT. Junior Luke Laurino stopped 30 of 35 shots for the Hoggers.
Holderness 8 @ NYA 1 -- The big guns came through for the #4 Bulls (13-1-0) today. Senior F Caden Wells (4g,1a) and PG Pavit Mehra (1g,4a) each notched five points. Senior F Aaron VanWie (1g,2a) and senior D Caeden Harrington (3a) each had three. It's the fourth time this season Holderness has scored eight or more goals in a game. Senior G Ryan Nolan (19/20) picked up the win.
@ Lawrence Academy 4, Milton 3 -- Senior F Owen Leahy (1g,2a) led Spartan scorers and junior G Kolin Belliveau (19/22) picked up the win. LA is 7-2-1 over its last 10 games and improves to 10-4-1 overall. For the visiting Mustangs, junior Anthony Sergeyev notched a pair of goals. Junior G Sam Caulfield (30/34) took the loss.
@ Tilton 4, Brewster 1 -- Four different Rams found the back of the net, junior d-man Andrew Asconi-Feldman notched two helpers, and sophomore G Matt Wood went 25/26 in net. Tilton is 8-6-1; Brewster drops to 2-10-0.
@ Canterbury 6, Westminster 5 (OT) -- Canterbury senior Colin Watson scored the game-winner 34 seconds into OT, and in doing so saved the Saints (10-5-2) from letting a key home win slip away. Minutes earlier, Canterbury had taken the lead with a minute left on PG Jackson Powers's PP goal. That lead wouldn't hold, though, because Westy senior Eric Elbery came up with a 6x5 tally in the last 30 seconds of regulation, knotting the score at 5-5 and forcing OT. Only there did the hosts escape with a win. All in all, this game featured four lead changes and three ties.
@ Berkshire 5, Choate 1 -- Junior F Duncan Thompson (2g,1a) and senior d-men Nico Pasquale (1g,1a) and Jack Turowsky (2a) came through for the Bears, who have won six straight since the calendar flipped to 2024. They stand at 12-5-0; Choate falls to 2-11-0.
Gunn 4, Millbrook 3 (OT) -- Gunn senior Marko Goich scored the OT winner — his second goal of the game — lifting Gunn (8-7-2) to a come-from-behind win at Millbrook. Earlier, the Mustangs had taken a 3-2 lead in the second, but Highlanders junior Luke Calabria scored a PP goal in the third to force the extra frame. PG Dalton Kane scored twice for Millbrook. Gunn junior G Collin Logan (38/41) earned the win in his first prep start.
Vermont Academy 3 @ Williston Northampton 3 (OT) -- In each period, Williston took a one-goal lead and, in each period, Vermont Academy responded. In the second, senior Nick Nader put the hosts ahead 2-1, but VA junior Cole Robinson needed just 39 seconds to re-tie the game. In the third, with the visitors trailing again and less than two minutes left, Robinson scored his second goal to even the score for good. Despite his team being outshot 51-30, VA senior G James Mikos kept his team in it with an impressive 48-save performance.
Dexter 11 @ Austin Prep 2 -- Eight players racked up two or more points, headed by sophomore Joseph Marchi (1g,2a) and freshman Noah Survilas (2g). Dexter, which outshot AP, 46-19, has won its last six NEPSIHA games.
Worcester Academy 6 @ Pomfret 3 -- WA senior Connor Dozois notched a hat trick — including two shorties 27 seconds apart in the second. It's his first three-goal game of the season, though he had four of them last year. Dozois's teammate, freshman Kellan Kissane, added two goals of his own. Pomfret held a 45-20 shot advantage for the game, but Hilltoppers senior Braden Clifford made 42 stops. At the other end, Griffins' senior G Beau Johnson went 5/8 in the first before sophomore Joey Mitchell (10/12) entered for the second and third.
@ Cushing 4, Thayer 0 -- Cushing senior G Marko Bilic (18/18) posted his fourth shutout. Juniors Max Dineen (1g,2a) and Luke Goukler (2g) paced the attack for the #7 Penguins (14-2-0).
Taft 2 @ Loomis Chaffee 2 (OT) -- Taft's Joey Crescimanni scored both Rhino goals, twice tying up a game that saw all four goals scored in the second period. Loomis senior Ethan Woolcott scored a PP goal and his classmate Eli Velepec scored on a penalty shot after being tripped on a breakaway, but Crescimanni had the answer each time. Taft finished with a comfortable advantage in shots and, though #5 Loomis had more chances in OT, both goalies did enough to force a draw. Pelicans junior Liam Joyce was 36/38; his Taft counterpart Brady Morris went 25/27.
Kent 5 @ Hotchkiss 2 -- Kent junior Michael Fiedorczuk scored twice, powering the Lions' offense in a game that wasn't as close as the final score indicates. #6 Kent put 52 shots on goal and, though Hotchkiss junior G Connor Towle (47/52) handled them well, the Lions led 5-0 before the hosts ever cracked the scoreboard. Kent senior Jack Roberts added a goal and two helpers and junior G Keegan Waldo (31/33) picked up the win in net. Dale Reinhardt's team is 10-4-1 after the win.
Exeter 4 @ Tabor 0 -- Exeter goalie Brady Quackenbush, a Marshfield, Mass. native, kept his stellar PG season rolling, saving all 33 shots he faced, raising his season save rate to .927 and leading Exeter (7-6-3) to a road blanking of Tabor. Junior Dryden Dervish (1g,1a) paced the Big Red attack.
@ Andover 7, St. Sebastian's 6 (OT) -- Andover senior winger Ethan Skowronek potted the OT game-winner with a minute left in the extra period, bailing his team out after a third-period collapse of epic proportions. The Big Blue had entered the second intermission holding a 6-3 lead, then watched it wither way as Seb's scored thrice in the final frame. Arrows junior Brendan Keaveney and Big Blue senior Sam Myles each notched a hat trick. Seb's is 8-5-0; Andover climbs to 11-3-1 and is knocking on the door of the Elite 8 picture.
Middlesex 6 @ Roxbury Latin 1 -- Middlesex (6-6-0) got a pair of goals from three different skaters — senior Tedy O'Keefe; and juniors Jack Francini and Nolan Marsters — and a 33/34 performance in net from junior Caio Bernardini.
@ Winchendon 5, Hoosac 2 -- Winchendon senior Willem Dumais scored twice, and his junior teammates Thomas Fabbo and Johnny Harbour added two helpers apiece. Wapitis senior Giovanni Calvanese (23/25) earned the win in the blue paint. Hoosac senior Miles Mittentag (33/37) took the loss.
@ Kimball Union 8, Deerfield 4 -- KUA senior Jack Sadowski scored 13 seconds in, then, later in the first, his teammates scored three goals in two minutes to blow the game open. Deerfield senior captain Tom Molson, a recent Yale commit, scored twice in the second to get the visitors back into the game, but the #2 Wildcats added three more in the third and put it out of reach. Sadowski (2g,1a) and junior Corwith Simmers (1g,2a) paced the attack for KUA (16-1-0). Deerfield (7-5-1) was led by Molson (2g) and standout junior Justin Tavares (3a).
@ St. Mark's 3, Belmont Hill 2 -- St. Mark's senior Andrew Gibbons put his team ahead 3-2 with just over a minute left in the second, and that goal stood up as the game-winner. It was quite the night for the senior from South Kingstown, R.I., who also tallied his 100th career point in this one. The Lions had led 1-0 in the first and 2-0 in the second on a pair of goals from senior Austin Borggaard, but Bel Hill didn't quit. The Hillies scored twice in three minutes to tie the game before Gibbons scored the deciding goal. Sophomore G Alex Tarves (33/35) earned his first prep win in goal. Belmont Hill falls to 9-4-2; St. Mark's is 9-4-0 after the home win.

Pelletier Powers Winged Beavers
Andover Beats Exeter in Round 1
Three Hat Tricks in St. Mark's-Rivers Tilt
Big Day for Bel Hill's Fabiano
Rhinos' Morris Blanks Wild Boars
Latta's Hat Trick Leads Salisbury
Dragons' Shea Blanks Zebras
@ Avon Old Farms 3, Kent 1 -- Cornell recruit -- and Avon's top scorer -- Alex Pelletier scored two goals for the Winged Beavers, one in the first and another in the second. Assists on both goals went to his linemates, senior center Charles Blanchard and junior wing Michael Munroe. Kent got on the board in the third, making it a one-goal game on a 6x4 powerplay with goalie Aidan Hopewell pulled. Avon's Munroe earned his third point of the day on an empty-netter with 16 seconds left. Both goalies -- Avon's Anthony Palmer (30/31) and Kent's Hopewell (33/35) -- were excellent. This game was riveting -- physical and chippy, with up-and-down play, and a fast tempo. Fans got their money's worth. This was the second meeting of the two teams this season. In the first, the championship game of the Avon Christmas Classic, Kent won, 3-2, in double OT (a tie for NEPSIHA purposes). If the teams meet again this season it will have to come in the playoffs. Avon, ranked #1, remains undefeated at 11-0-1; Kent falls to 9-4-1.
KUA 7 @ St. Paul's 3 -- The #2 Wildcats held a 5-1 lead after one period and added a goal in each of the final two periods en route to the 7-3 win. Junior Iain Olsen (1g,2a) and senior Malcolm Baar (3a) each had three points, and senior forwards Sam LeDrew and Kyle Murray-Smith each had two goals. KUA improves to 15-1-0 in NEPSIHA play.
Andover 3 @ Exeter 1 -- Nearly 110 years after their first meeting took place on the Squamscott River, these long-time foes renewed one of the nation's oldest rivalries. Brothers Ethan and Zachary Skowronek each scored a goal -- the latter's an empty-netter in the final seconds -- as the Big Blue topped the Big Red on the road. Junior Will Cavanagh notched Exeter's only tally to cut the lead to 2-1 in the third, but Skowronek's ENG put any last hopes to rest. The third Skowronek brother, senior goalie Ben, had the night off: Andover started junior Chase Anderson, who saved 24 of 25 and earned the win. The two teams will meet again on the final day of the regular season, Feb. 24th, at Andover.
@ St. Mark's 8, Rivers 4 -- St. Mark's struck hard and fast, taking a 6-1 lead into the first intermission. The five-goal lead turned out to be more than they needed. Senior forwards Andrew Gibbons (2g,3a), Austin Borggaard (3g,1a) and Jonathan Balzarini (3g) led the Lions' scorers. The Rivers offense was led by a pair of '09s -- eighth grader Carter Meyer had a hat trick, and eighth grader Finn Sears had three assists. That young duo is 1-2 in Rivers' scoring. St. Mark's (8-4-0) has won eight of its last ten. Rivers falls to 8-6-1. Of note: In this game there were three hat tricks -- Borggaard and Balzarini for St. Mark's and Carter Meyer for Rivers. Our abacus says those three scored 75% of the game's goals.
@ Salisbury 5, Westminster 4 -- Salisbury senior Seamus Latta notched a hat trick, and a good thing he did: his team needed every goal it got to withstand Westminster's late push. The #9 Knights grew their lead to 5-2 in the opening five minutes of the third, but Martlets' senior D Patrick Dotson answered just 18 seconds later. Later in the period, Westy captain Brian Judge made it a one-goal game, but nothing got past Salisbury senior G Cooper Flemming (22/26) in the last four minutes. Salisbury climbs to 8-4-0 after the win; Westminster is 4-3-3.
Belmont Hill 2 @ Governor's 1 (OT) -- A PPG seven seconds into OT from junior defenseman Stephen Fabiano lifted #8 Belmont Hill to a 2-1 road win at Governor's. The lead-up to the goal was filled with weirdness and controversy. With 1:42 remaining in regulation, Gov's standout senior forward Cam Russo was called for interference when the puck hit him while he had one leg over the boards. The Gov's staff argued that it was not a penalty, insisting that not only had the applicable rule changed, but Russo was in the process of changing and Gov's had only four players on the ice. The penalty stood, and Bel Hill went on the PP, but while killing it Gov's freshman F Spencer Thornborough was called for tripping with 55 seconds remaining. Bel Hill pulled their goalie, giving them six skaters to Gov's three -- and, with 38 seconds on the clock, Fabiano beat Gov's junior goaltender Zach Ericson (40/42) to make it 1-1. One of the penalties (Thornborough's) carried over to OT, whereupon Fabiano scored his second goal of the game just seven seconds in.
Lawrenceville 3 @ Northfield Mt. Hermon 2 -- Three Big Red skaters -- junior Aidan Yi, and seniors Porter Byrd-Leitner and Luke Benitez -- notched a goal and an assist. L'Ville, which got two of its three goals on the PP, led 3-1 into the final minutes. NMH sophomore Braydon Hudtloff scored a 6x5 goal to narrow the gap, but it wasn't enough. Senior G Kyle Ozgun (38/40) got the win; NMH PG Sam Mazanec (33/36) took the loss.
St. Sebastian's 12, North Yarmouth Academy 3 -- At Bowdoin College's Watson Arena, Seb's junior Ben Merrill and senior Nolan Flynn each tallied a hat trick, leading the Arrows to a drubbing of NYA. All told, seven different Seb's players scored at least one goal, and seven tallied three points or more. Usual backup Kam Carkner (21/24) got the start in net and earned the win.
@ Taft 4, Choate 0 -- Rhinos junior netminder Brady Morris pitched a 21-save shutout and his teammates backed him with four goals, all of which came in the first 24 minutes of the game. Taft (5-6-0) has won just two of its six games against Housatonic League opponents, both against Choate (2-9-0).
Lawrence 5 @ Thayer 5 (OT) -- Thayer led 5-3 with 20 minutes left, but visiting Lawrence went to work and tied it up. Senior Spencer Hirsch scored with less than two minutes to go in the second, drawing the Spartans within one. Almost ten minutes into the third, senior Brendan Hirsch (no relation) tied the game, but his would be the last goal of the afternoon. LA goes to 9-4-1 with the draw; Thayer stays at water level: 6-6-3.
@ Brunswick 5, Hill 3 -- Princeton commit Ryan Wachtel scored twice, including a shorthander as part of a three-goal second period that propelled Brunswick to its 13th straight win. Unlike Friday night, an 8-2 ’Wick win, Hill hung around in this one, drawing as close as 4-3 before Brendan Giles' ENG sealed their fate. The #3 Bruins' only loss this season came on opening night, at Loomis. They are 15-0-2 since.
@ St. George's 3, Groton 0 -- Dragons' senior goalie Ryder Shea, a Maine commit, saved all 22 shots he faced, so first period goals from sophomore Max Donatelli and senior Jake McIntosh were more than enough to do the trick. St. George's junior Danny Buckley added an ENG in the third for the 3-0 final. Zebras senior G Ethan Ramonetti (38/40) played well despite the loss. St. George's, which had a ten-game unbeaten streak snapped on Wednesday, is now 10-2-1.
@ Dexter 5, New Hampton 2 -- Dexter had three goals in the second, and five in total, all from different skaters. Sophomore G Colin Davis (20/22) picked up the win in the blue paint. For New Hampton (4-9-3), junior Cam Caron scored both goals. He has 28 points, nearly double the total of his closest teammate. Dexter is 9-3-2 and has won five of six dating back to Dec. 29. Their only loss in that period came at the Prep Cup to eventual champion Northwood.
Berkshire 5 @ Williston Northampton 2 -- Four Bears' skaters notched two points and senior G Tommy Adams, who followed new head coach Kevin Czepiel to Berkshire from NMH, went 18/20. Wildcats senior G Jake Henry (40/45) saw a lot of rubber in the loss. Berkshire is 11-5-0; Williston drops to 4-9-1 with the loss.
@ Deerfield 3, Trinity-Pawling 1 -- Playing its fourth game in seven days, Deerfield, despite slogging through much of the game, got two late goals to prevail at home. T-P had tied the game 1-1 with one second left in the first period, then was shut out the rest of the way. In the last four-plus minutes of the third, Big Green sophomore D Nate Watson and senior F Tom Molson (who recently committed to Yale) scored to seal the win. Senior G John Tolve (26/27) was excellent for the Doors.
@ Portsmouth Abbey 9, Hebron 0 -- Behind a 21-save shutout from senior goalie Patrick McDevitt and a four-point outing from junior Noah Jimbo (2g,2a), The Abbey (7-7-1) routed Hebron and got back to .500 for the season. Shots were 58-21 for the Ravens. The Lumberjacks are 2-12-0.
@ Pingree 3, Middlesex 1 -- Pingree junior d-man Anthony Bonocorso scored nearly six minutes into the second, and that goal stood up as the game-winner. His classmate Nick Moulison added an ENG in the waning seconds. Both goalies played well, but Highlanders senior Nick Hubbard (24/25) outdueled Middlesex junior Caio Bernardini (24/26).
@ Tilton 5, Vermont Academy 2 -- Host Tilton scored four times in the first period and never looked back. Juniors Noah Pineo (2g) and Kayden Yeaman (2a) paced the Rams' attack. Junior G Marty Pierce (23/25) picked up the win in net for Tilton, which is 7-6-1. VA, still searching for its first win of the campaign, is 0-11-1.
Stanstead College 3 @ Gunn 1 -- Gunn outshot their visitors from Quebec, 35-23, but Stanstead junior goalie Jacob LeBlanc stopped all but one of the 35 Highlander attempts. Junior d-man Luke Calabria scored Gunn's lone goal, a 6x4 score with 24 seconds left. Senior G Mitchell McCusker (21/23) took the loss in net.
@ Millbrook 5, Pomfret 2 -- Pomfret took a 2-1 lead in the opening minutes of the second, but host Millbrook scored the last four goals. Three Mustangs -- junior Jack Ferrentino, senior Finley Patrick, and PG Nolan King -- tallied a goal and a helper. The play of Millbrook senior G Tyler Spokane (37/39) allowed the Mustangs to win comfortably despite being outshot 39-26.
Loomis Chaffee 7 @ Hotchkiss 1 -- #5 Loomis took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission, then exploded for five goals in the second to blow the game open. Seven different Pelicans scored, including sophomore Indiana Grossbard, who leads the Founders League with 12 points (he's got 20 points overall). In net, Loomis junior Liam Joyce and senior Conor Bankoff shared the win. Loomis is 9-3-0; Hotchkiss falls to 2-7-2.
Milton 5 @ Brooks 2 -- The Mustangs scored four times in the first 21 minutes of the game and never looked back. Sophomore Justin Garvey (1g,1a) paced the Milton attack while junior G Sam Caulfield (28/30) turned in another quality night in net. Caulfield, who made 19 starts and posted a .948 save percentage last season, was one of a select few star netminders who returned to prep hockey this year. He's doing his thing again: 15 starts in, Caulfield's save percentage stands at .930. Milton (8-5-3) is unbeaten in its last eight.
@ Holderness 7, Proctor 2 -- Proctor scored first, less than two minutes in, but the next six goals belonged to the hosts. Bulls senior Aaron VanWie led the #4 Bulls with a hat trick and a helper. His teammates, PG Pavit Mehra and senior Caden Wells each scored a goal and tacked on three assists. Senior G Ryan Nolan (28/30) was the winner in goal. #4 Holderness (12-0-0) is the last team with a perfect record this season.
Kents Hill 3 @ Worcester Academy 1 -- Kents Hill scored a goal in each period en route to its second win in a row. Seniors Sam Stejskal (1g,1a) and Robin Vondrasek (2a) paced the attack. Sophomore G Tristan Bourassa (28/29) got the win between the pipes.

@ Westminster 3, Taft 2 -- Westminster notched three first-period goals, but Taft battled back with a PP goal in the second and a 6x4 goal in the third. Senior Brian Judge (1g,1a) and junior Blake Burke (1g,1a) figured in two of Westy's three goals. Sophomore Jason Rothman (2a) figured in both Taft goals. Taft had a 33-25 edge in shots, and outplayed the hosts for long portions of the game, but senior G Matteo De Luca (31/33) was strong in the Martlets' net. Junior goaltender Brady Morris (9/12) played the first period for Taft, but it wasn't his day; he was relieved at the start of the second by freshman Nick Cirka (13/13) who allowed the Rhinos to work their way back into the game. Westy improves to 4-2-3; Taft falls to 4-6-0.
@ Avon Old Farms 6, Hotchkiss 1 -- PG Alex Pelletier and junior Sam Houston each scored a pair of goals for the host Winged Beavers, and junior Michael Heinke (16/17) picked up the win. Avon outshot Hotchkiss, 38-17. #1 Avon remains undefeated at 10-0-1; Hotchkiss falls to 2-6-2.

@ Kent 8, Trinity-Pawling 5 -- Senior forwards Owen Mahar (1g,3a), Gio DiGiulian (2g,1a), and Sam Pfefferle (2g) led the host's attack. T-P sophomore F Jason Musa, the latest Musa brother at the school (Joey is at Dartmouth; Jack is at UMass), led the visitors with two goals and an assist. #6 Kent (9-3-1) outshot T-P, 33-24.
@ Brunswick 8, Millbrook 2 -- The top guns were on fire as #3 'Wick kept up its winning ways with an 8-2 win over Millbrook. Seniors Sean Gibbons (1g,5a), Brendan Giles (4g,1a), Luke Drury (3a), Ryan Wachtel (2g) and d-man Cooper Cleaves (2a) racked up the points. Sophomore Dylan Lee-Stack (15/17) and junior LJ Bylow (3/3) took care of business in net. Brunswick is 13-1-2 (11-1-2 in NEPSIHA play) and extended its unbeaten streak to 15, and its winning streak to 11; Millbrook is 4-9-2.
@ Holderness 7, St. Paul's 2 -- PG Pavit Mehra (2g,2a) and seniors Aaron VanWie (1g,3a) and Caden Wells (1g,2a) led the Bulls' attack. Senior Ryan Nolan (18/21) picked up the win; SPS sophomore Blake Truchon (41/48) took the loss. #4 ranked Holderness moves to 10-0-0; SPS falls to 4-9-1.
Brooks 3 @ St. George's 1 -- Senior Ethan Simpson kicked out 45 of the 46 shots he saw, and freshman Andrew Martin (2g), senior Danny Valenti (2a) and junior Griffin Bucci (1g) spearheaded the offense. St. George's senior G Ryder Shea (35/38) was solid in defeat. This was only the second loss of the season for the Dragons, who last lost on November 29th, a 2-1 opening day decision to Thayer. Sr. George's is 9-2-1; Brooks improves to 6-5-0.
@ Gunn 2, Albany Academy 2 -- AA scored the first two goals, and Gunn got the next two to make it 2-2 as the teams recessed for the second intermission. The third period was scoreless. Albany senior goaltender Caleb Murray and Gunn senior Mitchell McCusker each kicked out 25 of 27 shots. Gunn senior F Alex LoGuercio assisted on both his team's goals. Gunn falls to 7-5-2 while AA improves to 3-5-1.
@ Berkshire 7, NMH 0 -- Berkshire spread the scoring around, as seven different players had a goal. Freshman Jonah Rainisch (1g,2a) had a 3-point day. Berkshire junior G Kyle Bolduc stopped all 21 shots he faced in shutting out his former team. Junior Luke Laurino (36/43) faced a lot of rubber in the Hoggers' net. Berkshire improves to 10-5-0. NMH (4-8-0) has lost eight of its last nine.
Choate 3 @ Canterbury 2 -- Junior F Matt Trudell (1g,2a) figured in all three Wild Boars' goals, and junior goaltender Gordie Leary (30/32) had a strong outing while Saints' junior Maxim Pitts (10/13) had a dispiriting one. The win was Choate's second of the season. Canterbury stumbled after enjoying a four-game undefeated streak (3-0-1). They fall to 8-5-2.
Proctor 7 @ New Hampton 5 -- Senior forwards Nolan Davis (2g,2a) and Tyler Gwatkin (1g,2a) led the charge as Proctor rebounded from a 3-0 first-period deficit. Senior Dylan McDougall scored twice for New Hampton, now 4-8-3. Proctor improves to 5-9-0.
Andover 4 @ Tilton 2 -- Host Tilton took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission, but Andover came back with one in the second and three in the third (the last was an empty-netter). Sophomore Alex Small had the first two goals for Andover (8-3-1). Big Blue junior G Chase Anderson (28/30) continued his strong season. Tilton sophomore G Matt Wood (34/37) took the hard-luck loss.
@ Groton 6, Hebron 0 -- Freshman G Alex Wang posted a 15-shot shutout in his first prep start, and junior Zach Baker had a pair of goals. Hebron G Hayden Plimley (47/53) handled a ton of rubber. Did you know that the Groton roster has a Fang and a Wang, and a Wu and a Wig?
Milton 6 @ Tabor 1 -- Junior G Sam Caulfield kicked out 32 of 33 shots, and junior d-men Dylan Hunt (1g,4a) and Nick Brandano (1g,2a), along with senior F Will Cannata (2g,1a), led the attack as Milton extended its undefeated streak to six games (3-0-3) and improved to 6-5-3 on the season. Tabor falls to 5-8-0.
Dexter 4 @ Rivers 3 -- Dexter scored all four of its goals in the second period and sophomore F Joseph Marchi (2g,1a) had a hand in three of them. In the third period, Rivers' junior F Will Hatton had a pair of powerplay goals to make it a one-goal game. Rivers, however, couldn't get the equalizer. Dexter sophomore G Colin Davis (15/18) picked up the win; Rivers' senior Jason Delehoy (26/30) took the loss. Dexter improves to 8-3-2; Rivers is 7-5-1.
@ Lawrence 4, Nobles 1 -- LA junior G Kolin Belliveau stopped 19 of 20 shots and four different scorers found the back of the net for the Spartans. Nobles senior goalie Tyler Bloomfield (35/39) took the loss. LA (9-4-0) is moving up in the world, having won six of its last eight games. #10 Nobles (7-4-2) is slipping a bit, going 2-2-0 over its last four.
Deerfield 4 @ Loomis Chaffee 2 -- In a physical, evenly-matched tilt in Windsor, Deerfield used flurries of scoring to top #5 Loomis on the road. Big Green juniors Ryan Diffley and Justin Tavares each scored in a two-minute span to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead late in the first. In the third, senior Cam Herr and sophomore Drew Keiver scored 33 seconds apart, and the 4-2 advantage held up. Loomis held a 28-25 advantage in shots for the game, but Deerfield senior G John Tolve (26/28) was terrific. Loomis junior Luke Quinn (21/25) played well, too -- he was hung out to dry a few times. Deerfield is 6-3-1, but has knocked off a few top opponents. LC falls to 8-3-0.
@ Cushing 3, Salisbury 1 -- Penguins' senior G Marko Bilic kicked out 27 of 28 shots, and junior Luke Goukler, and senior Phil Aube scored to give #7 Cushing a 2-0 lead going into the third. Late in the third, Crimson Knights' senior F Jesse Allecia scored a SHG to make it a one-goal game, but not for long as Cushing's Kole Hyles added an empty netter to ice it. Salisbury senior goalie Cooper Flemming (33/35) took the hard-luck loss. With the win, Cushing improves to 12-2-0; #9 Salisbury falls to 7-4-0.
@ Governor's 6, Exeter 3 -- Gov's broke open a 2-2 tie early in the third, the first of four third-period goals that put the game out of Exeter's reach. Senior F Michael Ranaldi scored a pair of goals and junior F Eli Heinze had three assists for Gov's. Governor's freshman G Timmy Heaslip (31/34) earned the win. Exeter PG Brady Quackenbush (29/34) took the loss.
@ Austin Prep 6, Wilbraham & Monson 3 -- Something had to give in this one. And did. AP (1-7-0) earned its first NEPSIHA win, leaving Wilbraham & Monson (0-8-0) still looking for its first. Junior Tyler Killilea (2g,1a), and seniors Michael Bevilacqua (3a) and Derek Daley (1g,1a) led Prep's attack. AP outshot W&M, 60-23.
@ Thayer 5, Belmont Hill 1 -- The first period was scoreless, but Thayer led 3-0 by the time the second ended. Tigers senior Josh Halliday scored twice and junior Brady Kudrick added four helpers. #8 Bel Hill's only goal came from senior Marco Beshere in the third. Belmont Hill drops to 9-3-2 with the loss. Thayer improves to 6-6-2. (Thayer, which is 15-20-6 since the start of last season, but has earned quality wins in that span over then-unbeaten Cushing, then-unbeaten St. George's, Lawrence, Dexter, and now Bel Hill.)
Pomfret 5 @ Winchendon 3 -- Pomfret senior Louie Marcellino and junior Luke Corrigan each scored twice, helping the Griffins outpace Winchendon on the road. But the Wapitis hung around, responding each time Pomfret pulled more than a goal ahead. With under a minute and a half left, though, Marcellino iced the game with an ENG. Senior G Zach Bloxam (27/30) earned the win in net. Pomfret is 5-7-1; Winchendon is 4-9-0.
@ Roxbury Latin 4, St. Mark's 1 -- After a scoreless first, the Foxes broke out for three goals in the second, pulling away to climb above .500 at 5-4-1. (At this time a year ago, they were 0-8-1. Nice turnaround for them.) Senior Jake Novak (1g,2a) and freshman Joe Meade (2g,1a) each figured in three of RL's four goals. St. Mark's, meanwhile, falls to 7-4-0.
Kimball Union 7 @ Vermont Academy 0 -- Anchored by a 21-save shutout from senior G Colby Boyce, #2 KUA trounced VA on the road in Saxtons River. The Wildcats move to 13-1-0 on the season.
Williston 8 @ Worcester Academy 1 -- PG Hunter Harkins (2g,2a), senior Nick Nader (2g,1a), and sophomores Declan Grenache (1g,2a) and Lukas Machan (1g,2a) were the top point-getters. Junior G Zach Tremblay (25/26) earned the win.

Avon's #1 in USHR Prep Poll
Just like the last poll, which was on December 18th, right after the holiday tournaments, Avon remains #1 in this week's USHR Prep Poll. There's a little shakeup to the order, but nine of the ten positions are carryovers from the last poll. The order has changed a bit, that's all. And there's one newcomer.
Sorry for the tardiness of the poll. Some unexpected things came up yesterday.

Holderness 6 @ Rivers 1 -- The Bulls traveled south from the shore of Squam Lake to Greater Boston and started 2024 off with another win, this time a decisive 6-1 win over Rivers that puts them at 9-0-0. Senior D Will Russell (3a), Junior forwards Jacob Duval (2g) and Tanner Petalas (1g,1a), and senior Jake Boulanger (1g,1a) led the Rivers scorers. In net, senior Ryan Nolan stopped 23 of 24 shots. Rivers' lone goal came off the stick of 8th grader Finn Sears, with assists going to 8th grader Carter Meyer and sophomore Stephen Rousell. Did we mention that Rivers (7-4-1) is a very young squad? It won't happen overnight, but coach Freddy Meyer's team has a bright future.
Avon Old Farms 4 @ Taft 1 -- Avon (9-0-1) led 1-0 after two periods, and this one was still very much anyone's game to win, but the Winged Beavers pulled away for good with a three-goal third. Winged Beavers' junior Michael Munroe (1g,1a) led all point-getters. Sophomore G Anthony Palmer (22/23) picked up the win between the pipes. Taft junior D Noah Jettelson scored his team's only goal.
@ Hotchkiss 6, Millbrook 3 -- Hotchkiss (2-4-2) has struggled to score goals this year but came up with a season-high six goals today. Senior Jake Owens (2g,3a) and junior Jack McGregor (1g,3a) led the attack. Millbrook (4-7-2) outshot Hotchkiss, 37-33, but it didn't seem to faze Bearcats' senior G Connor Towle (34/37).
Choate 7 @ Andover 3 -- Choate senior captain Benjamin Darche scored four goals and added an assist as the Wild Boars (1-8-0) rung in the new year with their first win of the season. Darche wasn't alone atop the scoresheet -- his classmate Jake Gelman (1g,4a) tallied five points as well. Fifteen total penalties were assessed, including a 10-minute misconduct penalty to Andover's Jake LeDoux that'll keep him out of the next game. Choate sophomore G Gordie Leary (37/40) picked up his second career win. Big Blue senior Ben Skowronek (18/25) was charged with the loss.
@ Brunswick 6, Upper Canada College 2 -- Brunswick senior Brendan Giles notched a hat trick to lead #6 ’Wick to a victory over the visitors from north of the border. Fellow Bruins' seniors Jake Minella, Luke Drury, and Sean Gibbons added two points apiece. Regular backup G Dylan Lee-Stack, a sophomore, went 29/31 and earned the win. Brunswick won both games in its weekend series with UCC.
@ St. Mark's 6, Tabor 3 -- The host Lions scored four second-period goals and never looked back. Senior Austin Borggaard notched a pair of goals. Senior Andrew Gibbons and sophomore D Moussa Seydi each had a goal and an assist. And junior Cassidy Kittredge sparkled in net, kicking out 37 of 40 shots. St. Mark's improves to 7-3-0; Tabor falls to 5-6-0.
@ Pingree 6, Kents Hill 0 -- Junior F Marco Mottola notched a hat trick and senior G Nick Hubbard posted a 23-save shutout.
@ Portsmouth Abbey 5, Berwick 3 -- Ravens junior Hunter McCarthy potted the game-winner, assisted by sophomore D Drew Hayden, with less than six minutes to play, lifting The Abbey to a home victory. Junior Callum Coyle put the game on ice with an ENG in the final minute. Senior G Patrick McDevitt (34/37) got the win for PA, which returned home for this one after falling 3-1 at Cushing on Friday.
Milton 4 @ Tilton 4 (OT) -- In what is, to our knowledge, the only rhyming prep matchup, Milton played Tilton to a 4-4 tie. The Mustangs had led 3-1 at the game's midpoint, but Tilton tied the score with two goals in the final six minutes of the second. Two minutes into the third, junior Luis Valencia put Milton ahead 4-3 with his seventh goal of the season, but Tilton re-tied it with less than six minutes remaining, thanks to senior Danny Storella. OT wasn't enough to declare a winner. Mustangs' junior G Sam Caulfield (41/45) and Rams' sophomore G Matt Wood (28/32) both played well.
St. George's 5 @ Pomfret 2 -- The Dragons got goals from five different scorers and senior G Ryder Shea kicked out 23 of 25 shots for the win. Pomfret senior G Beau Johnson (34/38) took the loss for Pomfret (4-7-1). St. George's improves to 9-1-1.; their lone loss came on Nov. 29th at Thayer.
@ Salisbury 8, Deerfield 5 -- Host Salisbury (7-3-0) scored five goals in the first period and needed them too, as Deerfield (5-3-1) scored three straight in the third to make things interesting before the Crimson Knights scored an ENG to seal the win. Senior forwards Nicholas Petrut (1g,2a), Seamus Latta (2g), and Jesse Allecia (2g) led Salisbury's attack.
@ Nobles 6, Thayer 2 -- Nobles junior Kyle O'Leary scored a hat trick and classmate Ben Nakata (1g,3a) added four points, leading the Bulldogs (7-3-2) to a comfortable home win over Thayer. The hosts took a 4-0 lead into the first intermission and never looked back. Senior G Tyler Bloomfield (29/31) earned the win in net.
Loomis Chaffee 5 @ Kent 4 -- Loomis senior Cory Alissi notched the game-winner, off a pass from sophomore Indiana Grossbard, with under six minutes left, capping a furious comeback that jolted #7 Loomis over #5 Kent. The Lions had led 4-2 nearly halfway through the third, but three unanswered Pelican goals -- from Ethan Woolcott, Grossbard, and Alissi -- seesawed the visitors ahead for good. In the waning minutes, a pile of bodies fell over the LC crease and, even with the puck loose amidst the scrum for more than 20 seconds, Loomis junior G Luke Quinn (33/37) held the fort. Kent senior G Aidan Hopewell (33/38) played well despite the loss.
Canterbury 6, Lawrence Academy 3 -- In a neutral-site game played at the Worcester Center, Canterbury (8-4-2) exploded for four first-period goals en route to the 6-2 win over LA (8-4-0). Senior Patrick Heslin and junior Ryan Lucarelli each had a goal and two assists, and four others found the back of the net. Saints' G Maxim Pitts sparkled, stopping 38 of 40 shots.
Groton 3 @ Brooks 2 -- Groton sophomore D Kaiden Donia scored the game-winner on the PP with 7:30 left, capping a come-from-behind effort to stun Brooks. The hosts had taken a 2-0 lead just past the game's midpoint, but that advantage deteriorated quickly as the Zebras tied the game before the second ended, then won it in the third. It was a battle of senior Ethans between the pipes: Groton's Ramonetti (23/25) outdueled Brooks' Simpson (26/29).
@ Berkshire 7, Williston Northampton 1 -- Skating on home ice, Berkshire led 7-0 before Williston ever found the back of the net. Junior Duncan Thompson (2g,1a), junior Evan Regan (1g,3a), and senior Antoine Gauthier (1g, 2a) paced the Bears' attack. Senior Tommy Adams (20/21) got the win in goal; his senior counterpart Jake Henry (43/50) was the loser. Williston's Nick Nader scored the Wildcats' lone goal. Berkshire is 8-5-0 in year one under Kevin Czepiel.
Cushing 5 @ Proctor 2 -- Behind five different goal-scorers and a 23/25 day in net for senior G Marko Bilic, Cushing coasted to its 11th win in 13 tries this season. Among the Penguin goal scorers were both Tanner and Bronson Hunt -- post-grad brothers spending their fifth year in Ashburnham after playing at Northstar Christian Academy in Alexandria, Minnesota. They've combined for nine goals and 13 assists in 13 games. Proctor senior G Caden Pasqualone went 32/37 in the losing effort.
@ Belmont Hill 5, St. Sebastian's 2 -- Seb's lead 2-1 after the first, then Bel Hill (8-2-2) scored four unanswered -- two in the second and two in the third -- and coasted to a home win. A pair of youngsters powered the Sextant's attack: sophomore Jake Tavares (2g,2a) and freshman David Bosco (1g,3a) each posted a four-point night. Junior G Keagin Wilson picked up the win in net for Belmont Hill.
Winchendon 3 @ Wilbraham & Monson 2 -- Two Winchendon goals in the final four minutes took what was a 2-1 advantage for the hosts and turned it on its head. Wapitis sophomore Ben Short leveled the score with 3:08 left, then his senior teammate Cal Fielder buried the game-winner 35 seconds later. Winch senior Giovanni Calvanese (18/20) picked up the win in goal.
GameSheet Prep Cup at The Rinks at Exeter:
Dexter 4, Nichols 2 -- Dexter senior Cullen Emery broke a 2-2 tie late in the second with his 7th goal of the season -- which stood up as the game-winner. His team had been staked to a 2-0 lead by the opening minutes of the second, but a pair of Nichols goals from Thomas Bamrick and Tanner Wisniewski tied the game. Dexter senior Henry Butte notched the lone goal of the third to extend the lead. Sophomore G Colin Davis (25/27) got the win in net. Sawyer Russell (36/40) took the loss.
Mount St. Charles 5, Frederick Gunn 1 -- The Mount Saint Charles Academy U18s, coming off a Friday loss to Kimball Union, gave Frederick Gunn the works in the second game of Day 2. Senior Hutch Rose and junior Miller Kay each tallied a goal and a helper for the victors. Senior Mark Pizzo scored the only goal for Gunn, and senior G Mitchell McCusker (29/34) was charged with the loss in net.
Northwood 2, Culver 0 -- Behind a 27-save shutout from Albany Academy transfer Devin Shakar, Northwood advanced to the Prep Cup title game with a victory over Culver. Junior Ritter Coombs scored less than two minutes in, and his was the only goal of the game until William Schneid's empty-netter with 49 seconds left. Culver senior G Evan Tompkins (29/30) took, to say the least, a hard-luck loss.
Kimball Union 6, St. Andrew's College 5 (OT) -- KUA senior Jack Sadowski, a UNH commit, scored the OT game-winner and punched the Wildcats' ticket to the Prep Cup championship game against Northwood. Sadowski added three helpers to go along with his game-ender, totaling his fifth four-point performance of the season. Minutes before Sadowski's GWG, St. Andrew's had tied the game, thanks to two goals in the final eight minutes from seniors Connor Arseneault and Dean Letourneau. KUA junior G Blake McMeniman (29/34) was the winner in net; SAC senior Liam Furey (39/45) was the loser.
